Resultant images - Main Task

Evaluation

Question One: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main and ancillary tasks?

Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

To create my music video, I used a wide range of media technologies.  this age group is through the use of social media. The majority of our target audience were aged between 16-25, whilst the least were aged 45 or older. Due to our music video being aimed at such a young target audience,  therefore we will target this particular group  through the use of social media, as well as including characters of similar age to help the audience watching connect with them and sympathise. Also, many music videos nowadays include young actors as it's easier to attract the younger audience as they're more likely to watch and get involved with promoting the video.  one of the ways I used social media way by creating an instagram account. I used this account to promote photographs taken on set  of the production process in order to create 'hype' for the release of the final video. This also allowed me to engage our audience as prior to the release of the video we were able to gain some feedback during the production process to see what our audience was expecting to see and whether or not our product which was still under construction met the expectations of our audience. This meant that we were still at a stage where we able to make changes to ensure that we would only put out the best quality products to our target audience.

Another way I used media technologies to construct my final music video was by engaging in my audience through the use of online surveys. To gather this information i used a website called SurveyMonkey.  This meant that I could gather visual statistics including the different view points of my peers and older members of our audience that participated in this survey  I also used social media platforms such as Facebook messenger, snapchat,  Instagram and Twitter to spread the questionnaire links.

Prezi and Slideshare were also media technology which were used across the whole project, from the research straight up to my evaluation. For example, the first tasks set of the research were mainly completed in the format of prezi. This is because I found this a much more interesting way to portray my work. This meant that I could involve visual of each much video which I was analysing- My textual analyses. Another way Prezi was useful across my project was that it helped me present the construction of my music video, this is because I used it as a way of presenting my planning documents such as storyboards  and detailed research, making it even more interactive for my audience to observe. Furthermore, I found slideshare useful as it  allowed me to display some of of the release forms of our characters and locations, this is because if I were have large amounts of text placed  straight on my blog, I do not think that it would have the same appeal- they were also quite difficult to read as they were quite large amounts of information that had to be condensed into very small text. Prezi was another platform in which I decided to create one part of my evaluation, this is because it is an easy platform to display to my audience different aspects involving images and text.

Furthermore, I found a variety of different online websites which helped me construct elements of my music video. For example, my storyboard was created using templates that i had found on the internet. I found this  method much more successful than  drawing my storyboard because I wanted it to look professional and as if was being created for a real life media text though if I were to draw it. it would appear amateurish since I am not the best artist,  this might have meant that some parts of the storyboard may not be very clear and need explaining, although I found because I made it digitally, it was much clearer to see what my intentions for my music video were going to be. Furthermore, I used another website called "Logomakr" to  look at existing logo designs that would ultimately help influence my company logo.
Alongside the website, the media technologies of computer programmes also helped the construction of elements of my music video. For example photoshop helped me add text to my logo which I created online. Furthermore, programmes such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator help the construction of my ancillary tasks of the digipak. The use of Youtube was also used in this because I found different videos to help me learn how to complete different techniques, such inserting text and image the CD of my digipak design.

Adobe Premier Pro was also important in the construction of my music video. This is because without this media technology, it would have been very difficult of me to make the final media product of my music video.  I used footage from my  test shoots on Premier Pro to firstly get to grips with the programmes itself and also to experiement with different treatments.  Furthermore, Premier Pro was also the programme which I created my final music video on, having different video effects across the programe was very important and successful in my final product, for example adding colour treatment across every frame was the main part of treatment that I used in this music video. This is because it gave a blue/grey sepia  throughout the music video. When experimenting with the test shoots, I tried different colours to over lay our music video with although at that time, I didn't like any of the colours because I didn't think they work very well. Although when the music video was filmed in "natural light",  we have used these effects in order to change this and create a vintage like appearance for our video. Therefore showing through my experimentation with this programme across this project massively helped the final production of our music video.

Furthermore, the online platform and media technology of slide share was also useful in the planning of the music video because it enabled me to publish my work from Microsoft word and Microsoft powerpoint onto my blog making it look more professional than having to add screenshots instead. Work that was published using slideshare included the call sheets, sample scripts and detailed research alongside many more  documents which aided the  planning process of the music video.

Finally i have I chose to create my website using WIX website creator due to the fact that I liked the ease of which you could add gadgets and pages to your site and that you could work off a base template in order to make your own unique site.  My website was designed with my house style of Pastel tones in mind as these colours appear both in my overlay in my music video and in the interior of my digipack.  For my website I opted to use pastel blue and purple tones as I felt that it complimented the monochromatic font used throughout nicely.  I use open sans throughout my website as the font due to the fact that I like the concept of using a modern sans serif font and open sans appeared to fit the other font found in my company logo nicely and was simplistic allowing it to translate on my minimalistic website. My website can be navigated using a menu bar which appears at the top of my site before the company name and logo which appear on most pages in order to reinforce the company presence in the website.

in conclusion i have chosen to use multiple media technologies to show that i have a wide understanding of how they work and can be useful across the creation of a large project such as this. This is made evident in my resultant images for each of my tasks this is because I wanted to use a range of different platforms for my final evaluation to display my use of experimentation and that my work is not limited to just a singular platform. I also wanted to make a voice recording for   one of my evaluation questions so it is much more interactive than just reading all of my work.
